## About the Role

* Knowledge of data protection legislation
 * Knowledge of statutory information requests including Freedom of Information Using verbal and written skills to communicate relevant information to a wide range of users
 * Interpreting data protection regulations and implementing data protection policies and procedures
 * Drafting guidance/procedural documentation as required
 * Respond positively to substantial and continuous change with high expectations of improved service delivery Work effectively with people at all levels
 * Plan, organise and monitor own work to meet service objectives and performance targets
 * Facilitate and maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements relating to information security and data protection
 * Demonstrate drive, initiative and ability to deliver to meet user needs and the overall council and service policies and objectives
 * Communicate and promote understanding of information security and data protection within the council

Educational Requirements

 * Good literacy and numeracy
 * GCSE qualifications in both English and Maths at grade C / 4 or above (or equivalent qualifications at NVQ level 2, such as CSE grade 1 or T-levels or O-levels at A-C or an an intermediate apprenticeship)
 * Plus, 2 A-levels (or equivalent qualifications at NVQ 3 level such as an advanced apprenticeship)
 * Evidence of continuing personal development

## Description

To provide effective support to the information governance team in the delivery of the council's data protection and privacy compliance work, statutory information request and records management., * Work collaboratively and support other colleagues (as required) to deliver Team Plans, Corporate Plan and Covid-19 recovery plan

 * Take a collaborative approach to delivering information and governance support across teams. Supporting colleagues to deliver positive outcomes beyond traditional service boundaries where required and directed by encouraging the sharing knowledge, experience and resources across teams in the council
 * Contribute and support the development and delivery of the Council's strategies and policies
 * To work on cross cutting corporate issues/projects as required
 * Support the council to comply with the UK's data protection and privacy legislation including: the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR.
 * Ensure the transparency principle is met through the drafting and publication of meaningful privacy notices.
 * Responsible for investigating data security incidents and for monitoring business actions in relation to data breaches
 * Support officers in undertaking data protection impact assessments as required to identify, mitigate and management privacy and data protection risks.
 * Provide informed responses to complex information requests made under the UK GDPR, Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations.
