Unlike a phone app, our application is a long-running, kiosk-mode Android application where reliability, remote management and offline resilience are critical. A bug that crashes the app in a Manchester lift lobby is a bug a property manager calls us about. You'll own the Android side end to end: the on-device application, OTA update strategy, device provisioning, observability, and the integrations that pull content down and push telemetry up. You'll work directly with the Technical Director and other engineers. What you'll do * Own the Android application from feature work and architecture through to performance and stability * Build and maintain the systems that keep the fleet healthy: OTA updates, remote configuration, crash and uptime monitoring, alerting * Work in kiosk / device-owner mode: full-screen lock-down, auto-recovery, watchdogs, locked-down launchers * Make the app resilient to flaky building WiFi/4G: aggressive caching, offline playback, graceful degradation, retry strategies * Build the content delivery pipeline: scheduling, prefetching, media playback (images, video, scrolling notices), and real-time push when something urgent needs to go out * Help shape how the back end, the property manager web app, and the displays fit together ## Related Videos - [Kotlin Multiplatform - True power of native code reuse](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/4-kotlin-multiplatform-true-power-of-native-code-reuse) - [Unleash your web skills on native!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/122-unleash-your-web-skills-on-native) - [Do TypeScript without TypeScript](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/327-do-typescript-without-typescript) - [Why Kotlin is the better Java and how you can start using it](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/661-why-kotlin-is-the-better-java-and-how-you-can-start-using-it) - [Vuejs and TypeScript- Working Together like Peanut Butter and Jelly](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/127-vuejs-and-typescript-working-together-like-peanut-butter-and-jelly) - [There's an app for that - on the role of cross platform development in the app development ecosystem](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/278-there-s-an-app-for-that-on-the-role-of-cross-platform-development-in-the-app-development-ecosystem) ## Related Articles - [Cross Platform Mobile Development Frameworks to Use in 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/404-cross-platform-mobile-development-frameworks-to-use-in-2025) - [Basic And Advanced Networking in Dart and Flutter](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/112-basic-and-advanced-networking-in-dart-and-flutter) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [A Guide to Choosing the Right Tools for App Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/391-a-guide-to-choosing-the-right-tools-for-app-developers) - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs)
