Grow the component library, tokens, and page-composition patterns so they act as creative guardrails rather than a cage. Make the right thing the easy thing. * Build for self-serve. Architect Shopify theme sections, blocks, metafields, and metaobjects so that creative and merchandising partners can compose and launch pages without an engineer in the loop for every change. * Partner directly with creative and UX. Take a Figma file, a mood board, or a half-formed idea and drive it to a shipped page, asking the right questions, proposing alternatives, and making judgment calls on your own. * Own merchandising surfaces. Category and collection pages, faceted filtering and sort, variant and colorway selection, swatch and color-contribution logic, cross-sell and bundle modules, badging, and inventory- and availability-aware states. * Ship seasonal and concurrent campaigns. Support multiple campaigns running at once across product lines, with clean scheduling, staged launches, and graceful takedowns. * Hold the quality bar high. Core Web Vitals, accessibility, responsive behavior, cross-browser correctness, and analytics instrumentation are part of the definition of done. * Work cleanly with backend engineering. Define the data and API contracts you need, integrate with commerce, catalog, and account systems, and keep the boundary between presentation and business logic clean. ## Related Videos - [Modern Headless Commerce with Vendure](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/489-modern-headless-commerce-with-vendure) - [Boost Productivity with AI: Figma & Playwright MCP Workflows - Aris Markogiannakis](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1768-boost-productivity-with-ai-figma-playwright-mcp-workflows-aris-markogiannakis) - [Putting the Graph In GraphQL With The Neo4j GraphQL Library](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/257-putting-the-graph-in-graphql-with-the-neo4j-graphql-library) - [Developing the Backend with Stefan Lingler, CTO at Shpock](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100360-developing-the-backend-with-stefan-lingler-cto-at-shpock) - [Bridging the Gap](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/794-bridging-the-gap) - [Meet Your New BFF: Backend to Frontend without the Duct Tape](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/682-meet-your-new-bff-backend-to-frontend-without-the-duct-tape) ## Related Articles - [Dev Digest 133 - Back to Front](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/474-dev-digest-133-back-to-front) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [16 Best Free React UI Libraries in 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/148-16-best-free-react-ui-libraries-in-2025) - [Web Development Best Practices: What The Data Tells us](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/84-web-development-best-practices-what-the-data-tells-us) - [Dev Digest 139 - Soft and hard queries](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/487-dev-digest-139-soft-and-hard-queries) - [10 Essential Figma Plugins for Frontend Developers in 2023](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/262-10-essential-figma-plugins-for-frontend-developers-in-2023)
