These tools shorten feedback cycles, support earlier validation, and make complex development workflows easier to use. As a Software Engineer II, you will design and deliver capabilities that improve the accuracy, reliability, and usability of our simulation environment. Your work will include simulator functionality, integration with development and test workflows, automation, diagnostics, and the tools engineers use to configure and interact with the environment. You will own well-defined features from design through rollout, collaborate with engineering and quality teams across PlayStation, and turn recurring development and testing challenges into reliable, maintainable product improvements. What you'll do: * Design, implement, test, and document production-quality C++ features for simulation and developer tooling. * Build and maintain software abstractions, simulated services, and client/server integrations that reproduce important system behaviors in a development environment. * Improve core developer workflows such as environment setup, simulator startup, configuration, input handling, debugging, log collection, and failure recovery. * Improve and contribute to build, dependency, packaging, and release workflows for the simulation platform using modern build tools, dependency managers, containers, and CI/CD pipelines. * Create unit, integration, and end-to-end tests that catch regressions early and move high-value validation into continuous integration. * Diagnose failures that cross process, library, container, and platform boundaries; produce clear root-cause analysis and durable fixes. * Contribute to shared libraries and developer-facing interfaces including versioning, compatibility, migration guidance, and coordination with consuming teams. * Write architecture notes, setup guides, troubleshooting steps, and release documentation that developers can use without direct support from the team. * Partner with engineers, QE, product owners, and adjacent platform teams to define integration contracts, sequence cross-team changes, and deliver complete features. * Participate in design and code reviews, give actionable feedback, and improve the team's engineering practices through the work you ship. ## Related Videos - [Docker network without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1418-docker-network-without-docker) - [Navigating the Corporate Jungle: Life as a Developer in a large Company](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/621-navigating-the-corporate-jungle-life-as-a-developer-in-a-large-company) - [Code to Road in < 12 hours](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1082-code-to-road-in-12-hours) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [Docker exec without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1094-docker-exec-without-docker) - [Docker build without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100114-docker-build-without-docker) ## Related Articles - [Is Software Engineering Hard?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/448-is-software-engineering-hard) - [What is Software Engineering?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/289-what-is-software-engineering) - [What’s the Difference between a Junior, Mid, and Senior Developer?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/238-what-s-the-difference-between-a-junior-mid-and-senior-developer) - [Best Countries for Software Engineers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/267-best-countries-for-software-engineers) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Where to Find Entry-Level Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/397-where-to-find-entry-level-software-engineering-jobs)
