Agent guide: [/agents.md](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/agents.md). --- # Principal power systems architect - **Company:** Hitachi Energy Ltd. - **Location:** Raleigh, NC, United States - **Contract:** Permanent contract - **Skills:** Artificial Intelligence, Data Centers, PSCAD Simulation Software - **Published:** October 2, 2026 - **Apply:** https://diversityjobs.com/main/sendform/8/8/28176/1/18509412?backUrl=%2Fcareer%2F18509412%2FPrincipal-Power-Systems-Architect-North-Carolina-Raleigh ## About the Role * Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems, grid dynamics, power electronics, or high-voltage systems. * Minimum 15 years of relevant industry experience in power systems engineering and large-scale infrastructure projects. * Proven experience with utility interconnection processes, grid compliance requirements, and large-load integration in North America. * Strong knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NERC standards applicable to power system design and operation. * Experience with industry-leading simulation tools such as PSSE, PowerFactory, PSCAD, or similar platforms. * Demonstrated ability to work across power systems, data center infrastructure, controls, power electronics, and related engineering disciplines. ## Description * Lead the electrical architecture of hyperscale AI data center campuses from grid connection to rack-level power. * Direct multidisciplinary power system studies and ensure alignment across engineering domains. * Develop utility interconnection strategies and support large-load grid integration initiatives. * Review and approve key technical studies, designs, and engineering deliverables. * Define system-level specifications for transformers, power electronics, BESS, reactive compensation, and UPS solutions. * Serve as the primary technical interface for utilities, EPCs, grid operators, and equipment suppliers. * Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle. * Mentor engineering teams and foster technical excellence across power systems disciplines.
