While AWS is the primary focus, the ability to learn new technologies and contribute beyond a single cloud ecosystem will be important for long-term success. Experience with Amazon Connect is considered a strong plus due to existing AWS initiatives within the organization. Knowledge of PowerShell, cloud scripting, automation frameworks, DevSecOps practices, containerization technologies, Kubernetes/EKS, and cloud architecture principles are also desirable. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of cloud security, cost optimization, governance frameworks, and operational best practices within regulated environments. While AWS is the primary focus of this role, the successful candidate must be comfortable operating in a multi-cloud environment that includes Azure, GCP, and GitHub. Unlike highly mature enterprise cloud environments, this position offers the opportunity to help build standards, governance, and operational processes within a growing cloud practice. This individual will serve as the team's AWS subject matter expert, evaluating the current environment, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing best practices around governance, security, account structures, automation, and cloud operations. The role is highly collaborative and requires working with cloud engineers, developers, researchers, and business stakeholders across VUMC to influence cloud adoption and establish scalable cloud practices.
