Structured cabling and fiber infrastructure are the position's highest technical priority. The role will lead technicians and vendors, own physical infrastructure standards, coordinate installations and remediation work, and provide leadership continuity when the Data Center Domain Leader is unavailable. The successful candidate must be equally comfortable directing a cabling crew, reviewing fiber test results, coordinating a maintenance window, escalating a provider issue, validating documentation, and personally performing physical infrastructure work when needed. Key Responsibilities Own the day-to-day operations of multiple data center environments, ensuring physical infrastructure is running efficiently and meets company standards. Lead all structured cabling and fiber infrastructure activities, including installations, testing, troubleshooting, remediation, and documentation. Manage and coordinate technicians, contractors, vendors, and third-party colocation providers to support ongoing operations and projects. Oversee equipment installations, hardware refreshes, decommissions, moves/adds/changes, and rack space management. Serve as the primary escalation point for data center operational issues, maintenance activities, vendor performance, and infrastructure incidents. Ensure all cabling, fiber, rack layouts, asset records, and operational documentation remain accurate and up to date. Conduct site inspections, preventative maintenance, infrastructure assessments, and remediation projects to maintain a clean, organized, and reliable data center environment. Track operational risks, capacity planning, power and cooling utilization, and coordinate cross-functional efforts with networking, server, storage, cybersecurity, and facilities teams. Balance hands-on technical work with team leadership, project coordination, vendor management, and stakeholder communication.
