## About the Role

* 6+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering, data engineering, or a related technical role.
 * Expertise in writing high-quality code to solve strategically important problems that span multiple organizations.
 * Advanced proficiency in SQL and data warehousing, with a demonstrated ability to identify and reconcile architectural gaps.
 * Experience leading org-wide engineering projects through all lifecycle stages: inception, stakeholder engagement, implementation, and operations.
 * Proven track record of overseeing incident management processes and directing on-call rotations in alignment with global best practices.
 * Demonstrated ability to make sound engineering/business tradeoffs, considering long-term implications for the greater good of Uber.
 * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience., * Experience building high-performance, scalable distributed systems at a 100M+ user scale.
 * Expertise in real-time streaming frameworks (Flink, Spark) and OLAP systems (Apache Pinot, Druid) to reduce system complexity.
 * Experience with Big Data/Hadoop ecosystem tools used to automate complex data orchestrations across multiple product areas.
 * Strong leadership traits: Experience serving as a representative for the organization to the broader internal and external technical community. Proven ability to get alignment and buy-in for large-scale technology transformations across multiple job functions.

* Design and build long-lasting engineering artifacts that reduce complexity and increase developer velocity across the organization.
 * Solve messy, high-impact problems at the intersection of low latency and high correctness, often without a clear starting point or obvious solution.
 * Foresee architectural problems or opportunities and work with leadership to address them before they impact the global marketplace.
 * Lead organization-wide development and adoption of key frameworks while role-modeling coding best practices and high-quality design review.
 * Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Science, and Ops to translate ambiguous business requirements into production-ready technical roadmaps.
 * Mentor and guide other engineers, acting as a technical brand ambassador and raising the bar for excellence across the engineering organization.
