We're a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO-replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient. As a Software Engineer in Test, Controls, you will serve as the developer infrastructure and test support engineer for the Controls team. You will define, build, and execute test strategies spanning software, hardware, and simulation environments, including MIL, SIL, HIL, and vehicle tests, while owning the CI/CD pipelines and test frameworks controls engineers rely on daily. You'll validate embedded systems and propulsion control modules, perform defect triage, and conduct system root-cause analysis, with a strong emphasis on Simulink/Stateflow model understanding and generated C code. What You Will Do * Define comprehensive test strategies and architectures for new features and systems. * Translate requirements and system design into detailed test plans, test cases, and automation scripts. * Read and reason about Simulink models, Stateflow charts, and their generated/handwritten C code to design meaningful tests. * Architect and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar) for controls software: model builds, code generation, static analysis, and automated test execution. * Support automated toolchains to generate, compile, and deploy Simulink/MATLAB code across multiple targets, including HIL lab hardware. * Build and maintain test automation frameworks (Python, scripting, MATLAB/Simulink, CAPL) and keep them healthy as the codebase evolves. * Execute MIL/SIL/HIL testing; analyze logs, telemetry, and vehicle CAN network data. * Act as dev infra support for the controls team: unblock engineers on tooling, build, and test-infra issues. * Collaborate across software, firmware, systems, and vehicle teams to resolve integration issues. ## Related Videos - [Car's are Technology on Wheels - Impact of Software and IT Competence in Automotive](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/780-car-s-are-technology-on-wheels-impact-of-software-and-it-competence-in-automotive) - [Leveraging Large Language Models for Legacy Code Translation: Challenges and Solutions](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1157-leveraging-large-language-models-for-legacy-code-translation-challenges-and-solutions) - [Innovating Developer Tools with AI: Insights from GitHub Next](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1268-innovating-developer-tools-with-ai-insights-from-github-next) - [Building a hypercar from scratch](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/607-building-a-hypercar-from-scratch) - [Code to Road in < 12 hours](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1082-code-to-road-in-12-hours) - [Bringing AI Model Testing and Prompt Management to Your Codebase with GitHub Models](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1536-bringing-ai-model-testing-and-prompt-management-to-your-codebase-with-github-models) ## Related Articles - [How software is steering vehicle technology](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/515-how-software-is-steering-vehicle-technology) - [Software Engineer Career: Things You Should Know](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/143-software-engineer-career-things-you-should-know) - [The 8 Best Code Testing Tools](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/402-the-8-best-code-testing-tools) - [What is Software Engineering?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/289-what-is-software-engineering) - [Is Software Engineering Hard?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/448-is-software-engineering-hard) - [The Ultimate Software Engineer Career Path Guide for 2023](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/146-the-ultimate-software-engineer-career-path-guide-for-2023)
