This is a 100% Linux-focused position supporting a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment that includes physical servers, server rooms, geographically distributed systems, security compliance, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Red Hat subject matter expert who is equally comfortable working at the command line, troubleshooting physical hardware, automating administrative tasks, and securing highly regulated Linux environments. This person will also serve as a technical leader and mentor for the two existing contractors on the Linux team. This is not a purely cloud-based position. Candidates must have experience supporting physical infrastructure, including replacing hard drives, troubleshooting servers, and diagnosing network connectivity issues., Design, implement, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux server environments. Perform Linux administration and operations and maintenance activities from the command line. Lead RHEL migrations, upgrades, patching, and system implementation efforts. Use Ansible, Red Hat Satellite, and related automation tools to deploy updates and standardize system configurations. Manage package deployment and patching across geographically dispersed Linux systems. Review security scan results and remediate vulnerabilities based on severity and required timelines. Respond quickly to critical vulnerabilities and apply emergency patches when necessary. Harden Linux operating systems according to DISA STIGs, NIST, CIS, and FISMA requirements. Configure and manage NFTables, Firewalld, IPTables, SELinux, DNS, NFS, PXE boot, and other core Linux services. Support physical server rooms and troubleshoot hardware-related issues, including failed drives, server components, and connectivity problems. Diagnose and resolve LAN/WAN performance, network, and server availability issues. Develop and maintain automation scripts using BASH, Python, Perl, or JavaScript. Support Mirantis Container Runtime, AWS, GitLab, and related infrastructure tools. Maintain detailed technical documentation covering system configurations, designs, processes, troubleshooting procedures, and service records. Collaborate with security, network, infrastructure, and SOC teams to support mission-critical services. Mentor the two existing Linux contractors and provide senior-level technical direction to the team. Participate in an on-call rotation approximately one week every seven weeks. Respond to escalations from the 24/7/365 SOC when a critical server or infrastructure service is unavailable.
