## About the Role

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

 * 8+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems

 * Track record of technically leading engineering teams to deliver complex systems and products

 * Direct technical contributions in your current role, in code and design

 * Deep expertise in web services, distributed systems, and messaging, Go preferred

 * Demonstrated success scaling web applications or messaging systems

 * Clear communication of complex technical concepts to a wide audience

 * Experience with web security is a plus

## Description

Robotaxi is now operating commercially and the systems behind it have to grow with our ambitious plans. Join a small team of experts building and scaling the server-side platform that powers Robotaxi and Optimus: the connectivity, customer control, orchestration, and operation services behind millions of vehicles and robots.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will set technical direction for core systems, drive the roadmap for a portfolio of services, and remain a direct contributor in code and design. You will work with world-class engineers and cross-functional teams, with direct impact on the Tesla product roadmap and mission.

We are hiring at the Staff and Senior Staff levels.
What You'll Do

 * Set architecture and technical direction for mission-critical, high-availability systems and APIs, with a focus on security, scalability, and performance

 * Lead design and delivery of multi-quarter initiatives that span teams

 * Drive roadmaps to completion with Product, SRE, and Infrastructure

 * Stay hands-on: design, code, review, and operate the systems you own

 * Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team
