## About the Role

We're looking for a medior backend developer who can think strategically and act practically. You should also resonate with the following qualities:
o 3-5 years of experience building and shipping production software
o Solid experience with Python and a passion for scalable, secure and maintainable systems
o Your AI use goes beyond autocomplete: you hand well-scoped tasks to coding agents, review what comes back with a critical eye, and you're building instincts for what to delegate and what to do yourself
o Comfortable working from goals and ambiguity instead of fully specified tickets
o Curious beyond the backend: willing to work in React, data or infrastructure when the team needs it
o Solid understanding of relational databases such as MySQL
o Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms is a strong plus
o A collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn from and support your team

## Description

You'll join the Primary Education team working on Squla. You'll work in a small multidisciplinary team where product, design, engineering, education and marketing shape solutions together and share responsibility for the results, not just the roadmap. We work in short cycles: six weeks of focused execution, then a week to reflect, learn and replan.
We're rethinking how we build software around AI. Coding agents are taking on a growing share of the implementation work, and we're looking for engineers who already work that way personally and want to help push the team further. You're a backend developer at heart, but you won't stop at the backend: as agents remove friction, picking up frontend, data or deployment work becomes the normal way to keep the team moving.
Your role and impact
o Turn product ideas into production-ready solutions, working from goals and context rather than waiting for detailed specifications
o Use AI tooling as your default way of working: delegate well-scoped implementation to coding agents, run explorations in parallel, and review the output with strong engineering judgment
o Work across the stack where it avoids handoffs: backend first, frontend, data and infrastructure when needed
o Ensure scalability, security and maintainability across our services
o Shape solutions early together with product, design and education colleagues
o Take ownership of team results: follow whether the things you ship actually improve learning and business outcomes, and iterate when they don't
o Contribute to architectural discussions and help improve how we use AI in our engineering practice
