The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, development planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape the future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including US Space Force, U.S Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining both vertical responsibilities within customer portfolios and horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. As an Enterprise Systems Engineer within the Global Mission Operations (GMO) department, you will be responsible for leading holistic studies of key national security space capabilities, conducting objective evaluations of system performance, and developing and proposing recommendations that unlock new missions. GMO supports the Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) within the U.S. Space Force and is responsible for ensuring that space capabilities fulfill the mission needs of space, air, maritime, and other users. In this role, you will work closely with acquisition leads, field command units, mission partner organizations, and other FFRDCs to tackle some of the most urgent and high visibility capability architecture and integration challenges facing the U.S. Space Force. Work Model This position requires full-time on-site presence at our facility in El Segundo, CA. What You'll Be Doing * Developing models of user demand on national security space capabilities including satellite communications (SATCOM), position, navigation, and timing (PNT), space-based sensing and targeting (SBST) in collaboration with organizations across SSC and field and combatant commands * Employing these models to evaluate the performance of the space enterprise architecture under a variety of mission scenarios * Identifying risks, issues, gaps, and opportunities to improve enterprise performance and collaborating with portfolio acquisition and Space Force policy leadership to drive improvements into the architecture * Serving as a technical point-of-contact and mentor for government customers and end users * Organizing problems, funding, and products to anticipate future customer needs and proactively develop Aerospace's technical backplane
