You have strong analytical skills, enjoy solving problems, and get a thrill out of building something new. We are looking for: + Experience with Python and SQL and building data pipelines (required). + Experience with Azure and data modeling (required). + Experience with edge and industrial data: OPC UA, MQTT, and time-series data (required). + Knowledge of and familiarity with AI tools (required). + Familiarity with industrial protocols and the OT environment (preferred). + Experience with BI tools such as Power BI (preferred). + Experience with ERP data, such as from SAP (preferred). Because we are an international organization, you will regularly interact with colleagues who do not speak Dutch, and we often prepare documentation in English. We therefore consider strong communication skills in both Dutch and English-both spoken and written-to be important. What do we have to offer you? ## Description Do you enjoy turning raw machine data from a production line into reliable insights that customers actually use to guide their decisions? Do you enjoy building a scalable data pipeline just as much as you enjoy thinking about the architecture behind it? And do you want to be part of the foundation of a brand-new Data & AI team? Then we're looking for you. What will you be doing as Data Engineer? As a Data Engineer, you lay the foundation for everything our Data & AI team does. You ensure that data from our installed production lines is reliable, structured, and usable so that it can serve as the basis for dashboards, predictions, and ultimately autonomous, self-managing dough mixers. You'll work closely with our AI Developer, our PLC and OT engineers, and domain experts from the baking industry. Your responsibilities will include: + Our Data Enablement platform: You'll build and maintain the data pipelines that convert raw machine data-via a layered architecture (from the PLC, through a Siemens Industrial Edge device, to Azure and the Customer Portal)-into reliable, contextualized information-such as recipe, time, and status. + Smart sensor data: You collect data from sensors and scanners on the production line, validate it, and process it into time series ready for analysis. + Proactive, data-driven analysis: You combine machine data with data from business systems such as SAP, enabling us to identify patterns and opportunities early on-for example, predicting parts demand or service and downtime signals. + Information Packs: concrete data products that give customers and colleagues immediate insight into machine performance, such as OEE Availability (live availability, downtime, and alarms) and Dough Metrics (dough quality and weight monitoring). You'll help develop follow-up solutions such as Machine Health and predictive maintenance. In practical terms, this means you'll: + Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines-both in the cloud and at the edge; + Access edge data via OPC UA and MQTT and process time-series data; + Help build a central data lake and a "golden record" data architecture; + Ensure proper data modeling, data quality, and validation; + Integrate and enrich data sources (machine data, sensors, SAP, ARAS). We work according to a few clear principles: production always takes priority (our solutions must never disrupt machine operations), we build generic and scalable solutions rather than customer-specific ones, and we work MVP-first: test quickly, gather feedback, and refine the solution in a targeted manner. You'll have the freedom to build something from the ground up, with the support of an organization that's seriously investing in digitalization and AI. What do we look for in our new colleague?
