We are looking for an AWS Modernization Architect to provide technical architecture and modernization leadership across a complex AWS environment involving cloud infrastructure, EMR/HBase/Spark data platforms, Java applications, and application modernization. The architect will be responsible for designing production-ready migration and modernization strategies, understanding dependencies across infrastructure, data, and application layers, and defining phased migration, validation, rollback, and cutover approaches. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on architecture experience with AWS, EMR, HBase, Spark, Java/Spring, AWS networking, and modern cloud services, along with proven experience taking modernization initiatives through production. Responsibilities * Define the overall technical architecture and modernization approach for the AWS environment. * Design migration strategies across AWS infrastructure, EMR/HBase/Spark, Java applications, and supporting services. * Analyze technical dependencies between cloud infrastructure, data platforms, application runtimes, and security controls. * Design phased migration, pilot/proof, validation, cutover, and rollback strategies. * Assess the impact of platform and runtime upgrades on application compatibility and operational readiness. * Provide architecture guidance for EMR, HBase, Spark, Java/Spring, ECS/Fargate, S3, KMS, and AWS networking. * Define architecture patterns that support security, scalability, reliability, operability, and production readiness. * Work closely with Cloud, Data, Backend, DevSecOps, Security, and QA engineers to resolve cross-platform dependencies. * Review technical implementation plans and ensure they align with the target architecture. * Support production migration planning, cutover readiness, rollback design, and post-migration validation. * Identify architectural risks and recommend mitigation strategies. * Ensure modernization activities maintain application compatibility and minimize production disruption. * Support technical documentation, architecture decisions, migration evidence, and client discussions.
