## About the Role

* 5+ years of experience in Software Quality Engineering, SDET, or Automation Testing roles.
 * Strong hands-on experience testing and automating REST APIs and backend services.
 * Expertise in automation development using Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar programming languages.
 * Experience with API automation tools and frameworks such as:
 + REST Assured
 + Postman
 + Karate
 + ReadyAPI / SoapUI
 * Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
 * Experience validating JSON, XML, API contracts, and schema compliance.
 * Strong SQL skills with experience performing backend and database validation.
 * Experience working in Agile development environments.
 * Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.

## Description

We are seeking a Backend API Automation Test Engineer to help mature and expand our automation capabilities across APIs and microservicess. This is a net-new role focused on building scalable automation frameworks, improving backend test coverage, and enabling continuous quality across modern distributed systems., * Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks for APIs, backend services, and microservices.

 * Build and execute automated functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end API test suites.
 * Validate business logic, data integrity, service contracts, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
 * Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams to embed quality throughout the SDLC.
 * Perform backend and database validation using SQL.
 * Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing initiatives.
 * Identify automation gaps and drive improvements in tools, frameworks, and testing processes.
 * Support Open Banking initiatives through secure API and third-party integration testing.
 * Participate in defect triage, root cause analysis, and release readiness activities.
