## About the Role

Proven, hands-on experience or academic background in IT system security or system administration

 - Familiarity with incident response procedures, security monitoring, and investigation
 - Technical knowledge of operating systems, networks, cloud computing, and security protocols
 - Experience in vulnerability assessments and risk management
 - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
 - Strong written and verbal communication abilities; able to convey technical information clearly
 - Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
 - Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams and vendors
 - Demonstrated willingness to learn and take on new challenges

Preferred Skills:

 - Experience with Health Information Technology and regulatory compliance (NIST, CMS, ARC-AMPE)
 - Centralized Log Management knowledge
 - Familiarity with SOC environment and security operations
 - Consulting experience in government or public sector environments

## Description

Join the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) as a Security Analyst - Consultant and become a vital part of the Office of Cybersecurity. This fully onsite, 12-month contract role offers the chance to lead hands-on security initiatives, influence IT security strategy, and collaborate with technical experts and stakeholders. Ideal for self-starters passionate about cybersecurity, this position offers career growth within a mission-driven state agency., Perform day-to-day SOC monitoring, threat hunting, and incident investigation activities

 - Provide hands-on support and administration of cybersecurity tools, technologies, and processes
 - Assess and evaluate IT and cybersecurity solutions for effectiveness and compliance
 - Respond to security incidents, gather evidence, and analyze anomalies to protect agency assets
 - Guide and mentor junior analysts in identifying and addressing security risks
 - Collaborate with agency staff, leadership, business partners, and vendors to support compliance and risk mitigation
 - Analyze and report on security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies
 - Support the integration of security controls into the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
