The goal is to take product information coming in to the organization process and enrich it, and make it usable downstream. They are also looking to move more of this process from batch processing toward real-time processing. The product will use LLMs/AI as part of the workflow, but this person is NOT building an LLM or ML model from scratch. They need a software engineer who knows how to take existing AI capabilities and integrate them into a production application. What this person will actually be doing * Building backend services, APIs, and integrations * Working heavily with Python + FastAPI * Building/working with microservices and complex systems * Integrating with OpenAI and Vertex AI * Moving data between different systems/layers and figuring out how data should flow from the data layer into the application * Working with product data and data transformation/enrichment * Helping move the process toward more real-time/event-driven workflows * Working with existing AI/ML models on the backend * Implementing and integrating AI capabilities into the product * Using AI coding tools such as Cursor/Codex Important: Backend-heavy, but full-stack in nature This is NOT a frontend/UI/UX role. They will not be responsible for designing interfaces or doing dedicated frontend development. However, the hiring manager described the role as full-stack in nature because the engineer needs to understand how the backend and frontend interact. They should have enough JavaScript/TypeScript knowledge to think through how data is structured and consumed by the frontend. Think: strong backend engineer who understands the full application stack, not a traditional frontend/full-stack developer.
