## About the Role

* 5+ years of extensive experience working in multithreaded, distributed application development
 * Deep, hands-on expertise in Java/J2EE, Python, JavaScript, and REST API design
 * Strong background designing and building large-scale distributed systems and microservices (Spring Boot, Kubernetes)
 * Proven experience architecting subsystems or services with broad, cross-product impact
 * Knowledge of UML, software architectural style, Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), and J2EE design patterns
 * Experience developing solutions that make architecture and microservices highly scalable, resilient, maintainable, and secure
 * Demonstrated technical leadership - driving design/code reviews, mentoring engineers, and influencing technical direction across teams
 * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work across geographically distributed teams
 * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

## Description

* Establish yourself as the architect for one or more subsystems of the Next Gen platform, driving design decisions that shape the team's technical direction
 * Lead the design and delivery of complex, cross-team features end-to-end, from requirements through production
 * Set technical standards and drive adoption of best practices for performance, security, and operability across the team
 * Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar of the team through design/code reviews, brown-bags, and knowledge sharing
 * Partner with product management and other engineering teams to turn ambiguous, open-ended problems into a clear technical roadmap
 * Leverage your AI expertise to drive productivity improvements and develop innovative solutions for the team

What type of work will you be doing?

In a typical day, you will:

 * Design and develop cloud service components for Horizon Cloud Services and next-generation architecture using the latest open service platforms and technologies from Azure and AWS
 * Develop solutions to make architecture and microservices highly scalable, resilient, maintainable, and secure
 * Apply expert knowledge of Python, Windows programming, Java/J2EE frameworks, object-oriented design and programming, and open-source technologies to develop software components
 * Work in an agile development environment, applying agile scrum processes, engineering best practices, and principles
 * Work with staff engineers, architects, product management, and other stakeholders to define the technical roadmap for the product in response to customer requirements
 * Analyze and understand requirements; write and review detailed research and design documents
 * Work closely with team members and integration teams, and guide team members to deliver complex features
 * Provide guidance to solve complex bugs and customer issues
 * Participate in organization activities, technical conferences, and recruitment events
