This role is the organization's reciprocating-engine and generator subject matter expert, responsible for ensuring resilient, safe, and compliant operation of emergency power systems across the fleet. Responsibilities Power Operations & Reliability Lead and develop a team of power- subject matter experts, providing technical mentorship, performance coaching, and support across regions. Own the global maintenance and reliability program for backup generators and all associated reciprocating-engine systems, including diesel, natural gas, dual-fuel, and other engine-driven emergency power equipment. Establish and track fleet health metrics, reliability trends, failure modes, maintenance performance, and lifecycle risks; translate findings into prioritized improvement actions. Develop and maintain maintenance scopes of work, operating procedures, technical standards, inspection plans, and service-provider requirements for generators and supporting equipment. Provide deep technical oversight for reciprocating engines and generator systems, including prime movers, alternators, controls, starting systems, fuel systems, lubrication, cooling, air intake, turbocharging, exhaust, emissions equipment, and switchgear interfaces. Lead complex root-cause investigations following generator failures, near misses, or adverse reliability trends; implement fleet-wide containment, corrective, and preventive actions. Partner with original equipment manufacturers, vendors, and service providers to resolve systemic equipment issues, secure warranty or remediation commitments, and verify completion of corrective actions. Collaborate with data center operations, critical facilities engineering, lifecycle management, construction, and procurement teams to improve backup-power design, operability, maintainability, and long-term reliability. Deliver technical training for critical-facility engineers on operating, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and safely responding to issues involving emergency power systems. Drive continuous-improvement initiatives that reduce operating costs, improve maintenance effectiveness, and increase generator availability and design reliability. Ensure maintenance and operating programs meet applicable safety, environmental, regulatory, emissions, and business-continuity requirements.
