We help enterprise clients run critical data platforms reliably, and we're looking for people with deep, hands-on PostgreSQL expertise to diagnose, stabilize, and tune large self-managed database environments. If you know Postgres internals well enough to explain why a database fell over and how to make sure it doesn't happen again, we want to work with you!, You're the person teams call when Postgres is misbehaving in production. You understand what's happening under the hood, from MVCC and autovacuum to the planner and WAL, and you can turn that understanding into configuration and maintenance changes that keep systems healthy. You're calm during incidents, rigorous in root cause analysis, and confident communicating findings and recommendations to both engineers and stakeholders., We help one another freely. We keep a Slack channel called ask-help, which is constantly used. We develop new skills, build better developer tools, and work on new types of projects regularly. Our fully remote team comprises about 70 developers and designers. We welcome diversity and non-traditional paths into professions. We want the right person, not the right collection of tech keywords. WHAT YOU'LL DO AT BITOVI Stabilize critical systems. Audit configuration, maintenance, and indexing across enterprise PostgreSQL environments, identify the root causes of instability, and deliver fixes that measurably reduce incidents. Tune for performance and reliability. Optimize vacuum strategy, indexing, queries, and configuration so databases stay healthy under real production load. Prevent recurrence. Put monitoring, alerting, and runbooks in place so problems are caught early and client teams know how to respond. Consult and manage. Consult with clients to build outcome-driven platforms, guiding them through the process, identifying potential problems and unknowns, and tackling challenges. Travel. This is a remote, full-time position that requires the ability to travel. We travel an average of 3 to 5 days every quarter, and we'll always do our best to work with your schedule. Teach. We'll discuss opportunities for you to present at conferences, attend and give training, plan and run meetups or local groups, and create various kinds of content in your expertise.
