## About the Role

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Electrical Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
 * Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
 * BESS system design, application engineering, power systems, or energy storage experience strongly preferred.
 * Experience with solar PV and BESS integration preferred.
 * Working knowledge of electrical design principles, electrical calculations, and applicable NEC requirements.
 * Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, single-line diagrams, equipment documentation, and applicable industry codes.
 * Experience with engineering/design software and Microsoft Office applications.
 * Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to customers, engineers, project teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
 * Valid driver's license required.
 * Ability to travel occasionally to support projects.

Additional Qualifications

 * Willingness to pursue applicable industry certifications and continuing education.
 * FE/EIT certification or progress toward professional engineering credentials is a plus
 * OSHA 30 Certification
 * NABCEP Energy Storage Installation Professional (ESIP) certification or willingness to pursue certification.

## Description

GPT Renewables is recruiting for a BESS Application Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity supporting Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This position is primarily office-based in Jackson, Michigan, with occasional travel to project sites and customer meetings.

The BESS Application Engineer will serve as a technical resource connecting customers, sales, engineering, and project teams throughout the development and execution of energy storage projects. This position will support system sizing, conceptual design, technical proposals, controls and operating strategies, project integration, and field commissioning.

The ideal candidate will have an engineering background with experience in BESS, solar + storage, power systems, or renewable energy engineering and the ability to support projects from initial proposal through construction and commissioning., * Review RFPs, RFQs, technical specifications, and project requirements for stand-alone and solar-coupled BESS projects.

 * Develop technical proposals, conceptual system architectures, and preliminary designs.
 * Size and model BESS solutions based on project requirements, operating use cases, inverter configurations, and manufacturer specifications.
 * Evaluate DC/AC configurations, equipment compatibility, system operating modes, and controls strategies.
 * Serve as a technical resource during customer meetings and assist with specifications, design requirements, and technical exhibits.
 * Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams to develop layouts, single-line diagrams, and project designs.
 * Provide technical support to Project Management teams throughout design, construction, and commissioning.
 * Assist with equipment installation requirements, storage and handling procedures, site verification, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
 * Provide technical guidance and product knowledge to sales and business development teams.
 * Support technical training related to BESS solutions, system operation, and product offerings.
 * Travel to project sites or customer meetings as needed.
 * Pursue applicable industry certifications, including NABCEP professional certification.
