## About the Role

* You are a strong programmer who either has expert proficiency in Python as your first language or with polyglot experience of Python and deep expertise in other languages.
 * You have been a senior/lead developer with key individual contributions to projects (eg. open source) and/or products and have managed a team and/or managed managers.
 * You are excellent at clarifying specifications, designing solutions, creating engineering plans and sequencing plans into actions.
 * You understand modern software development (SDLC, CI/CD) and software design and have experience in applying these principles day to day.
 * You are extremely motivated to produce high quality software but are also pragmatic and delivery oriented. You should also be able to set this as an example for our software teams.
 * You understand and have experience of Agile processes such as scrum and have experience working cross-functionally, possibly in development pods/squads.
 * You have knowledge of and possibly direct experience with building cloud native systems.

## Description

The Software Development Manager is a key strategic hire for Chetwood financial group at this dynamic and exciting time in our journey. We are looking for a highly driven and technically excellent engineering manager. This role operates across core areas of our technology function and deals with key elements of the financial infrastructure of our platforms; working with our teams engaged in lending, deposits, integrations and credit decisioning implementation. There are many opportunities to lead and inspire others on technical innovation in these areas and as such it is essential that the successful candidate is able to guide, facilitate and technically contribute to designs and engineering plans. The successful candidate will have been a strong developer who is still comfortable being 'hands on' if required but who is primarily an excellent manager who is able to delegate, mentor, upskill, hire, inspire and build high performance software teams., * Inspire, motivate and encourage the team leads reporting to you.

 * Set standards around software development practices and processes including but not limited to development models, code management, review practices and testing.
 * Provide technical estimates and advice to stakeholders and senior management when determining project priorities and feasibility.
 * Provide technical guidance to senior developers and team leads when planning and executing software development projects.
 * Coach team leads in running high performing software development teams and maintain uniform high standards across those teams.
 * Use data, evidence, documentation, discussion and company objectives as a basis for determining and executing development strategy across the teams underneath you.
