## About the Role

* 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with recent hands-on production development.
 * Daily use of AI-native tooling - Claude, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent - to generate, review, and refine production code.
 * Strong Java experience building backend services and APIs.
 * Database design experience with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL.
 * Ability to review and harden AI-generated code for security, performance, and maintainability.
 * Experience spanning backend services, frontend components, APIs, workflows, and test code.
 * Comfort guiding a small team while remaining hands-on.
 * Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

 * Experience establishing or refining AI-assisted engineering standards.
 * Healthcare, payment integrity, or regulated industry background.
 * Full-stack delivery including frontend components.

## Description

ZipStaff is seeking an AI-Native Staff Engineer for a small, focused AI-native delivery team at a healthcare analytics and payment integrity organization.
You will use Claude, Copilot, or equivalent tools to generate large volumes of production-bound code across the stack, then own, review, and make that code production-ready. You will also guide a small team. This role is not focused on training AI models or building machine learning pipelines.
What You'll Do:

 * Build and enhance production-grade software using AI-assisted development workflows.
 * Translate product and technical requirements into working, maintainable software.
 * Use AI tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, refactoring, and documentation.
 * Review, validate, and refine AI-generated code for correctness, performance, security, and maintainability.
 * Design and implement clean APIs, services, and application components.
 * Contribute to scalable backend systems and full-stack solutions.
 * Orchestrate AI tools across code generation, test creation, debugging, and documentation.
 * Collaborate with the AI-Native Tech Architect and the small AI-native team to deliver features end-to-end.
 * Guide a small team and communicate technical tradeoffs clearly.
