## About the Role

* We are seeking an experienced and versatile Software Developer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering modern, secure and scalable digital services within a complex technology environment.
 * The successful candidate will possess a broad technical skill set, with strong experience in Python development, API design, cloud technologies and DevOps practices.
 * You will play a key role in designing, developing, integrating and maintaining applications and services, ensuring solutions are robust, secure, accessible and aligned with modern software engineering standards., * Python: Strong commercial experience developing and maintaining applications using Python.
 * Frameworks: Hands-on experience with Flask and FastAPI for web application and API development.
 * Front End Development: Good working knowledge of HTML and experience using the GOV.UK Design System.
 * API Development: Experience designing, developing and integrating RESTful APIs, including JSON data exchange.
 * Authentication & Security: Understanding of OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC), including secure authentication and authorisation.
 * Databases: Practical experience working with MongoDB.
 * Cloud Technologies: Experience developing, deploying and supporting applications within AWS.
 * Containerisation: Working knowledge of Docker and container-based development.
 * Operating Systems: Strong familiarity with Linux environments.
 * Version Control: Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
 * DevOps: Experience applying DevOps methodologies, automation and CI/CD practices.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

 * Previous experience delivering digital services within Central Government or the wider public sector.
 * Familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and accessibility best practices.
 * Experience working within Agile or Scrum delivery environments.
 * Understanding of microservices architecture and cloud-native application design.
 * Experience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
 * Familiarity with automated testing, continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

## Description

* Design, develop and maintain scalable applications and Back End services using Python, Flask and FastAPI.
 * Build, integrate and maintain RESTful APIs, working extensively with JSON-based data structures.
 * Develop accessible, user-focused web interfaces using HTML and the GOV.UK Design System.
 * Implement secure authentication and authorisation solutions using OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC).
 * Design, query and maintain MongoDB databases, ensuring effective data management and performance.
 * Develop, deploy and support applications within AWS cloud environments.
 * Utilise Docker for application containerisation and deployment.
 * Work confidently within Linux environments, including troubleshooting and application support.
 * Apply DevOps principles to streamline development, testing, deployment and ongoing maintenance.
 * Use Git for version control, collaborative development and code management.
 * Collaborate with developers, architects, testers and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical solutions.
 * Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, automated testing and continuous improvement initiatives.
