## About the Role

Computer Firmware, Software Engineering, Analysis Skills, Testing, Embedded Software, Computer Firmware, Software Administration, Test Plan/Schedule, System Test, Test Strategy, Analyzes, develops, designs, and maintains embedded software for the organization's products and systems. Develops testing and troubleshooting strategies, devices, and systems for firmware. Integrates firmware to maintain functionality, throughput, and consistency. Develops user documentation. Work may be reviewed for accuracy and overall adequacy. Follows established processes and directions.

This is a hybrid position working on-site at our corporate office located in Lincolnshire, IL for a minimum of 3 days a week., * Bachelor's degree in engineering (Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related fields) with 2+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree in engineering (Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related fields) with no experience.

 * Significant experience delivering platform product embedded firmware development.
 * Proven experienced in programming languages C/C++, * Development experience in I2C, SPI, UART, USB, CAN, Modbus, WLAN, PWM, ADC, Bluetooth, Ethernet, others Microcontroller peripheral.
 * Good knowledge in the use of Oscilloscope, Bus analyzer, emulator and other firmware debugging tools.
 * Familiar with electrical interface, schematic diagram, electronic component specification and datasheet.
 * Good understanding in embedded RTOS and POSIX implementation including scheduling policy, synchronization methods, Interrupt Service Routine, external library integration, FileSystems, Memory allocation.
 * Preferred experience with Stepper motor, network, MQTT, and security.
 * Participate in Agile (SCRUM/KanBan) development process
 * Experience of prototype board bring up, bootloader development, ARMCC toolchain is a plus.

## Description

* Designs, develops, and tests on a variety of firmware assignments that constitute a portion of a larger project for the organization's Thermal printer products and solutions.
 * Develops and tests documentation which describes the specific firmware functionality.
 * Participates and provides some input in project code reviews.
 * Runs software tests designed by more experienced engineers.
 * Reviews test results and perform root cause analyses to identify problems.
 * Provides recommendations and implements solutions to complex issues. Ensures compliance with quality processes and standards.
 * Makes changes to or upgrades existing firmware. Enhance and improve existing technologies to apply to new solutions.
 * Makes and implements recommendations to immediate team to enhance performance and improve productivity.
 * Seeks out new tools to analyze and solve problems.
 * Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
 * Receives general instructions on routine work, new projects or assignments.
 * May provide guidance to non-exempt personnel.
 * Primary intra-organizational with occasional inter-organizational and external customer contacts on routine matters
 * Grow competency on wide range of Product framework, HALs, Linux Kernel drivers from Peripheral and Network communication, and real time controls.
