On the Orders POS Team, our mission is to provide a state of the art platform for processing and synchronizing changes to orders that enables Toast to build complex and customizable workflows for our customers. As a Staff Software Engineer on this team, you'll play a key role in designing and implementing new features, evolving our architecture and tooling to ensure efficient high-quality delivery, and working with many other Toast R&D teams to bring high-visibility product experiences to life, ensuring that over 1 billion order changes per week across over 200,000 customers are processed quickly and accurately. A day in the life (Responsibilities) * Lead the design and delivery of significant capabilities on Toast's Orders platform that span multiple teams, from the cloud to the point of sale * Join a collaborative team of Design, Product, QA, and other engineering members in developing robust and scalable software within Toast's POS applications * Drive architectural decisions for correctness, performance, and scale; author and review technical designs within and beyond the team * Provide design feedback and participate in code reviews to ensure implementations meet requirements * Align the technical vision and roadmap for the Orders platform with Toast's strategy * Be a domain expert for order processing and synchronization, and the go-to partner for teams whose products build on orders * Advocate for best coding practices to raise the bar for you, your team, and the company * Mentor and provide technical guidance to other team members and raise the engineering bar across the team and the broader Orders organization.
