As part of the client's Software Factory and CI/CD modernization strategy, they are seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to drive the migration of legacy software delivery platforms and establish a unified, scalable software delivery framework. This role will lead the modernization of the client's Powertrain software build and release infrastructure, transitioning decades-old ClearCase-based development and build workflows to modern GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Actions-based CI/CD pipelines. The successful candidate will be responsible for consolidating separate Gas and Diesel software delivery systems into a standardized enterprise platform that supports increased automation, reliability, security, and delivery velocity. In addition to technical leadership, this individual will play a critical role in coordinating globally distributed engineering teams, ensuring seamless collaboration between offshore and onshore resources, and maintaining delivery continuity across time zones. This position requires a leader who can combine deep technical expertise in DevOps, CI/CD automation, source control modernization, and software build systems with strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills., DevOps Transformation Leadership Lead the strategic migration of legacy Powertrain software delivery environments from IBM Rational ClearCase to GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Actions. Partner with engineering leaders, product teams, release management, quality engineering, and infrastructure teams to drive adoption of modern DevOps practices. Serve as the technical authority for software delivery automation across Powertrain software programs. Drive standardization, automation, and engineering excellence across software delivery processes and platforms. CI/CD Platform Engineering Design, build, and maintain enterprise-scale GitHub Actions workflows supporting embedded software development and release processes. Develop reusable pipeline templates, standardized workflows, and automation frameworks to support multiple engineering organizations. Implement automated build, testing, validation, artifact management, and deployment capabilities. Drive Infrastructure-as-Code and environment standardization initiatives. Ensure CI/CD platform scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability. Build System Consolidation Lead efforts to unify currently independent Gas and Diesel software build ecosystems onto a consolidated GitHub Actions platform. Identify opportunities to eliminate duplicate workflows, tooling, infrastructure, and operational support processes. Establish common standards for source control, branching strategies, release governance, and software promotion mechanisms. Create scalable architectures capable of supporting future Powertrain and Connected Vehicle software programs. Develop and execute migration strategies that minimize business disruption while accelerating modernization objectives. Global Engineering Coordination & Delivery Leadership Serve as the primary technical liaison between offshore and onshore DevOps, platform engineering, and software development teams. Lead daily cross-regional handoff processes, ensuring work completed by offshore teams is effectively transitioned, communicated, and prioritized for North American engineering teams. Establish and maintain a 24-hour development and support model that maximizes productivity across global delivery organizations. Provide continuity across development activities, ensuring blockers, risks, incidents, and project updates are clearly communicated between teams and stakeholders. Coordinate issue resolution efforts across multiple time zones and serve as the escalation point for critical platform, build, and deployment challenges. Facilitate knowledge transfer, documentation standards, and operational readiness between offshore and onshore resources. Partner with engineering leadership, architects, and program managers to ensure alignment on priorities, sprint objectives, and delivery commitments. Drive accountability across distributed teams to ensure successful execution of migration, modernization, and platform consolidation initiatives. Reliability and Operational Excellence Improve build reliability, system availability, and deployment success rates through enhanced monitoring and automation. Establish platform observability, metrics, reporting, and operational dashboards. Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives for pipeline failures and delivery bottlenecks. Implement disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities for critical software delivery platforms. Develop KPIs and operational metrics to measure platform health, delivery performance, and modernization progress. Security and Compliance Embed DevSecOps principles throughout the CI/CD lifecycle. Integrate automated security scanning, code quality analysis, dependency management, and compliance validation within build pipelines.
