## Description

You will join the Wholesale Banking Lending department, working in a multidisciplinary Agile team of engineers, testers, customer journey experts and a product manager. The team develops and operates enterprise lending applications that support critical lending journeys.

We combine engineering excellence with practical AI adoption. We use tools such as GitHub Copilot and agent-based development to improve delivery, while applying critical thinking, secure engineering and human accountability to every solution.

Roles and responsibilities

As a Senior Java Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of the full stack solutions with emphasis on the backend, and raise the engineering standard across the team.

 * Designing and developing scalable backend applications with Java and Spring Boot, including AI-enabled features and intelligent automation.

 * Shaping technical designs, REST APIs, and integrations with other systems.

 * Driving code quality through automated testing, reviews and engineering standards.

 * Ensuring solutions are secure, compliant, and resilient, meeting ING's security and risk requirements.

 * Improving CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments and production reliability.

 * Using and help spread AI-assisted engineering tools effectively and responsibly to improve delivery.

 * Mentoring engineers, breaking down complex challenges into achievable steps, and constructively challenging ideas to drive better outcomes.

 * Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents using industry-standard observability, monitoring, and logging tools.
