Agent guide: [/agents.md](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/agents.md). --- # Head of IT - **Company:** SRT Marine Systems plc - **Location:** Midsomer Norton, UK - **Experience:** Expert - **Salary:** £60,000.0 - £95,000.0 - **Contract:** Permanent contract - **Skills:** Microsoft Windows, JIRA, Business Systems, Cloud Computing, Microsoft Office, Remote Access Technology, Microsoft InTune, National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework, Information Technology - **Published:** October 10, 2026 - **Apply:** https://www.adzuna.co.uk/jobs/details/5920470522 ## About the Role * Substantial experience leading an internal IT function in a growing organisation of similar or larger size, ideally in engineering, technology or manufacturing * Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender and Conditional Access, plus Mac management in a hybrid identity environment * Experience managing a managed service provider and other IT suppliers, including service levels, reviews and renewals * A track record of running IT as a responsive, visible and pragmatic service that people value, with a bias toward fixing things * Experience delivering IT projects and change alongside business-as-usual, and managing an IT budget and delivery plan * Understanding of security controls and frameworks such as Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001 and NIST CSF as they apply to a corporate IT estate * Ability to lead, coach and develop a small team, and work alongside highly technical engineering colleagues who manage their own tooling * Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technology choices and trade-offs to senior leaders in business terms * Experience in a company that has grown quickly or undergone significant change would be helpful * Experience in high-trust, regulated or mission-critical environments would be valuable ## Description * Lead and develop our in-house IT team, set priorities and standards, and ensure people across the business receive fast, effective support * Own our corporate IT estate end to end, including Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, Windows and Mac endpoints, networks, telephony, meeting-room AV and office IT * Define how support requests are routed, escalated and measured across our team and managed service provider; set service levels and hold suppliers accountable * Manage the day-to-day performance of our managed service provider and other IT suppliers, including service reviews, escalations and operational contract renewals * Manage and deliver our IT operational and project budgets, own the 12-month IT delivery plan and contribute to our longer-term technology roadmap * Protect our data assets, people and associated third parties from cyber attacks * Ensure our interactions with the outside world, particularly customers, reflect our values and position as a trusted, professional business * Own and continually improve our endpoint and identity platforms, including device management, endpoint protection, secure remote access, privilege management and Mac management * Work with business systems owners across areas including ERP, Jira, delivery and HR tools, and Microsoft 365 automation to ensure configuration, integration and access are properly managed * Contribute to security assurance and certification, including Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001, alongside our Security & Compliance Manager * Own joiners, movers and leavers, licensing, asset management and device lifecycle, as well as the related policies and processes * Report clearly to senior leadership on service, risk, cost and progress in business terms Technologies: * ERP * Support * JIRA * Microsoft 365 * PLC * Security * Windows * Office 365 * Cloud
