## About the Role

Position: Senior Design Engineer Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 depending on experience Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire Senior Design Engineer required. Our client is an established engineering business specialising in the design and development of bespoke machinery, industrial automation systems and special-purpose equipment. They are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join their engineering team based in Wakefield, working across a variety of sectors including automotive, food and beverage, and general industrial manufacturing. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer to take technical ownership of projects from initial concept through detailed design, manufacture, assembly, testing and commissioning. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing practical mechanical engineering solutions, producing detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings, and working closely with fabrication, machining, assembly, electrical and controls teams. The, component selection and formal design reviews to ensure designs meet performance, safety and reliability requirements. Working collaboratively with fabrication, machining, assembly, electrical and controls teams to ensure designs are practical and suitable for manufacture. Applying Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles to improve production efficiency, simplify assembly and reduce costs. Supporting machinery risk assessments and ensuring appropriate consideration is given to machinery safety requirements and relevant engineering standards.
