## About the Role

This is a senior leadership assignment focused on stabilizing departmental operations, improving organizational effectiveness, strengthening governance and accountability, and preparing the department for long-term permanent leadership., * 8+ years of experience leading organizational transformation, change management, and service-delivery optimization.

 * 8+ years of experience leading large and complex technology projects.
 * 8+ years of experience in personnel management, coaching, staff development, and performance accountability.
 * Demonstrated ability to lead through significant organizational and cultural change.
 * Strong executive communication, decision-making, and stakeholder-management skills.
 * Experience managing technology operations, budgets, priorities, and resource allocation.
 * Completed Bachelor's degree required.

Preferred Qualifications

 * Experience with research cyberinfrastructure and High-Performance Computing (HPC).
 * Knowledge of high-speed storage and networking technologies.
 * Experience implementing IT governance and operational maturity frameworks.
 * Previous experience managing organizational change within higher education.
 * Master's degree in science, technology, or a related discipline.
 * ITIL certification or experience.
 * AWS and/or Azure cloud infrastructure experience.
 * AI infrastructure exposure across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
 * Experience with HPC technologies such as Slurm and InfiniBand.
 * Carpentries Instructor experience or certification., * Organizational Transformation: 10 years (Required)
 * Change management: 10 years (Required)
 * High-Performance Computing: 5 years (Required)

## Description

* Provide leadership for departmental operations, research technology infrastructure, and related IT services.
 * Lead organizational transformation, change management, and culture improvement initiatives.
 * Supervise managers, professional staff, and student employees.
 * Establish performance expectations, accountability measures, and operational metrics.
 * Assess current research technology infrastructure, services, active projects, procedures, and budget requirements.
 * Develop and improve governance, communication, decision-making, and operational processes.
 * Coordinate departmental budgets and strategic resource allocation with executive leadership.
 * Identify and remove organizational barriers affecting productivity, innovation, and collaboration.
 * Ensure compliance with university policies, information security standards, audit requirements, and regulatory obligations.
 * Prepare executive-level reports, strategic recommendations, lifecycle budgets, and transition documentation.
 * Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop team members.
 * Develop succession planning and prepare the organization for transition to permanent leadership.
