## About the Role

* B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
 * Typically 2+ years experience in one or more of the following areas:
 + Embedded systems firmware development including:
o Real-time firmware design
o C and assembly languages

 + Graphical User Interface applications in Windows environments including:
o Object oriented design
o Object oriented languages (C++, C#, Delphi, Java)

 + Embedded Linux systems development including:
o C, C++, Python
o Other scripting languages

 * Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
 * Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
 * Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
 * Background check results satisfactory to SEL
 * Negative drug test result(s)

It is a plus if you have:

 * Industrial controls
 * 3-phase electric power systems
 * Modern communications protocols
 * Digital and analog circuitry
 * Digital communications and signal processing
 * Project management

## Description

This position develops, tests, and supports embedded software and firmware solutions, collaborates with hardware engineers, maintains technical documentation, and contributes throughout the product development lifecycle.

A typical day as a Software Engineer might include:

 * Designing, developing, and testing embedded software and firmware solutions.
 * Collaborating with Hardware Engineers to support product development.
 * Creating and maintaining technical designs and test documentation.
 * Mentoring Associate Engineers and Technicians.
 * Applying SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing principles in daily work.
 * Contributing to continuous improvement through SEL's philosophy: Understand. Create. Simplify.
 * Other duties as assigned., SEL designs, manufactures, and supports products and systems that protect, monitor, control, and automate electric power systems. Our technologies help detect faults, prevent equipment damage, and reduce the impact of power outages.
