You do not wait for specs to be perfect before you start, and you do not consider a program done when code ships - you own it through field deployment and into production operations., A low-level builder - you write production C/C++ on microcontrollers, understand memory models, peripheral drivers, and timing constraints, and can debug a device in the field with an oscilloscope and a logic analyzer as readily as in a simulator * Reliable in production - you treat uptime as a personal accountability; you build telemetry in, design OTA update paths that fail safely, and watch the fleet after launch * A cross-discipline collaborator - you work directly with electrical engineers on schematic review and hardware bring-up, and with manufacturing partners on NPI readiness and production tooling * A technical decision-maker - you author architecture docs and hardware specifications that others build from, not just code that implements what someone else decided * AI-fluent - you actively use AI tools in your engineering workflow: for documentation, code review, debugging analysis, status reporting, and technical communication. You move faster and produce higher-quality artifacts because of it, and you are interested in the broader frontier of AI-assisted embedded development * Operationally minded - you understand that embedded systems in a commercial IoT product live in the real world, subject to network outages, power interruptions, hostile environments, and user error. You design for that reality, not the happy path And you bring: * A track record of shipping embedded firmware for IoT or connected hardware products into production at meaningful scale * Experience with the full embedded development lifecycle: architecture, bring-up, driver development, application firmware, manufacturing tooling, OTA, and field maintenance * Hands-on experience with BLE, WiFi, or cellular connectivity in embedded products * Comfort owning multiple concurrent hardware programs with limited supervision, * Five or more years of firmware or embedded software engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of production IoT or connected hardware programs * Strong C/C++ in an embedded context - microcontrollers, peripheral drivers, RTOS (FreeRTOS or similar), memory management * Experience with wireless connectivity in embedded products - BLE, WiFi, or cellular - including protocol handling, reliability design, and power management * OTA update design and implementation experience - including safe rollback, version management, and fleet-scale deployment * Experience with hardware bring-up: schematic review, debugger and logic analyzer usage, boot sequence troubleshooting * Experience producing technical specifications and architecture documents - not just code * Demonstrated AI fluency in your engineering workflow - you use AI tools actively and can articulate how they make you more effective * Strong communication - written and verbal - across technical and non-technical audiences Strongly Preferred * Experience working with contract manufacturers on NPI programs - design reviews, manufacturing test tooling, production validation * Familiarity with device management platforms (MDM) for IoT fleets - enrollment, provisioning, remote management * Linux-based embedded systems experience (Yocto, Buildroot, or similar) * Experience with secure boot, secure element integration, or key management in an embedded context * Background in access control, smart lock, or connected physical security systems * Experience with fleet telemetry design and uptime instrumentation for connected hardware at scale, What We're Looking For Five or more years of firmware or embedded software engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of production IoT or connected hardware programs Strong C/C++ in an embedded context - microcontrollers, peripheral drivers, RTOS (FreeRTOS or similar), memory management Experience with wireless connectivity in embedded products - BLE, WiFi, or cellular - including protocol handling, reliability design, and power management OTA update design and implementation experienc ## Description We need a Senior Firmware Engineer who can own programs end to end - from hardware bring-up and architecture through production firmware, OTA update pipelines, and field reliability - and who brings genuine seniority to the embedded systems decisions that define product quality at scale., Own firmware architecture and delivery for Luxer One's embedded hardware portfolio - including locker control boards, IoT gateways, BLE/WiFi-connected access hardware, and next-generation platform programs * Design and implement firmware from the ground up on new hardware programs: architecture decisions, peripheral bring-up, RTOS integration, application layer, and production readiness * Build and maintain OTA update pipelines and device management integration - including MDM enrollment, provisioning workflows, and fleet telemetry * Partner with electrical engineers and manufacturing partners (including Ansync) on hardware design review, design for manufacturability, NPI readiness, and production validation * Write and maintain hardware specifications, architecture decision records, and technical documentation that inform roadmap decisions and manufacturing commitments * Maintain and improve the reliability of devices in the field - monitoring telemetry, identifying failure patterns, shipping patches, and owning uptime metrics on deployed fleets * Contribute to firmware quality standards: code review, CI pipeline health, automated test coverage, and escape defect rates from QA * Actively use AI tools in your workflow - for documentation generation, debugging analysis, status reporting, and code review - and help the team develop best practices for AI-assisted embedded development * Represent embedded systems in cross-functional planning - product roadmap, NPI programs, commercial partner engagements - as the authoritative technical voice on firmware capabilities and constraints
