Reporting to the Director of Analytics and Information Technology, your primary role is to build and maintain custom applications across every layer of the technology stack. You will design, develop, and deploy custom Python/Django applications, manage database architecture, and integrate enterprise data to streamline processes and unlock insights. Beyond traditional development, you will also utilize low/no-code operational platforms and explore how university-supported AI tools can automate routine tasks. This position is ideal for an adaptable, forward-thinking developer who wants to act as a technical leader guiding system design, mentoring staff on best practices, and actively pushing our technology ecosystem forward., * Design, code, test, and deploy secure Python/Django web applications to digitize administrative processes, streamline operational workflows, and support internal business operations. * Build responsive, user-friendly interfaces utilizing modern front-end frameworks like HTMX and Bootstrap, incorporating accessible patterns to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. * Integrate internal and external systems-including the enterprise Data Warehouse-through APIs, databases, and automation scripts to power custom web applications and BI tools. * Set up and maintain databases, including schema design, data structures, and secure database connections and integrations. * Maintain cloud deployment environments (e.g., Google App Engine, Cloud Run), manage network and hosting configurations, and streamline CI/CD release processes. * Support the team's portfolio of deployed applications, handling troubleshooting, user support, feature enhancements, back-end server management, and routine framework upgrades. * Partner with end-users to understand customer needs and translate business process problems into effective custom scripts or applications. * Evaluate business needs to recommend the most efficient solution-whether that is an existing university system, a low/no-code tool, or a custom-built application. * Take initiative to evaluate emerging tools, and recommend or build integrations for AI workflows (e.g., n8n, AI agents) into existing team tools. * Produce clear, durable technical documentation, runbooks, and work instructions to promote user independence and ensure any team member can support our applications.
