We are located in Midtown Manhattan on 26th street. This isn't solely a repair job: it's managing everything we acquire. A normal day involves wiping devices, restoring operating systems, testing bulk drop-off items, and triaging and repairing any device that needs service. Every device we buy goes through this process, and you'll be responsible for running it. On the repair side, every laptop we take in-Mac and PC, 2018 models through the newest 2026 releases-passes through your hands: you'll diagnose faults, replace what's broken (screens, keyboards, batteries, trackpads, speakers, cameras, ports, logic boards), and run our refurbishing line, PXE imaging for PCs and DFU restores for Macs. We do parts-level repair only, no board-level soldering, so precision and judgment matter more than a microscope: you know what is worth fixing and what is not. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who has done this work for years and wants a bench they can run their way. We're a small business, so everyone pitches in. During peak times you may need to step out front to help customers who are looking to sell their electronics: evaluating the machine, testing it, and giving them a fair offer. It isn't the core of the job, but it is part of it, and a lead who can talk to a customer as confidently as they handle a logic board is exactly who we're looking for., * Own the intake pipeline for every device we purchase: wipe, restore, test, triage, and repair-from a single MacBook Pro to a bulk drop-off of fifty laptops-and keep it moving. * Diagnose and repair Mac and PC laptops from 2018 through the latest 2026 models: displays, keyboards and top cases, batteries, trackpads, speakers, cameras, charge ports, system boards, and logic boards. * Work confidently on high-value machines that can easily be $3000+ devices -MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, ThinkPad, Latitude, Surface, Alienware, and more-where a damaged connectortool costs real money. * Know the Apple-specific rules cold: glued batteries, riveted keyboards, serialized displays and Touch ID, True Tone calibration, and when a genuine part plus System Configuration is the only right answer. * Run the refurb line: PXE/MDT network imaging for Windows 11 machines, DFU revive and restore for Apple Silicon and T2 Macs, firmware updates, service tags, activation, and encryption handled before anything goes back out. * Make the call on every intake: part swap, logic board, refer out, or no fix-and quote it accurately. * Maintain a clean, ESD-safe bench and keep parts, screws, and documentation organized. * Help retail customers selling their electronics when the front office needs a hand (about 15% of your time): evaluate, test, and make the offer. * Mentor the front-office team on technical questions and step in on the toughest customer repairs., * Can identify a model from its number, pick the right driver for the screw in front of you, and spot liquid damage, backlight failure, or a cracked hinge mount at a glance. * Customer Comfort: * Able to explain a device's condition and value to a customer plainly and politely-in person and over the phone-when you're called to the front. * Reliability: * Punctual and dependable-our small team counts on you! * Comfortable working full shifts without smoking or vaping (we're a smoke-free workplace). * Dog-friendly attitude (our office Golden Retriever might just become your new coworker!).
