Master's or MBA is a plus. * AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional and/or Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or comparable current certification desired * Certifications in Operating systems & network desired (MCP, MCSE, MCP+I ) * 4 years hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating production workloads in AWS or Azure - compute, storage, networking, identity and access management, monitoring, and cost management - with working knowledge of the other. This environment spans both platforms; depth in one and credible fluency in the second is what the role requires. * 7 years leadership experience that includes all three of the following: directly managing full-time employees, owning a multi-year technology roadmap, and holding accountability for an operating or capital budget. Technical lead roles, project leadership, matrixed or dotted-line supervision, and mentoring do not satisfy the people-management portion of this requirement. * Expert knowledge of both equipment and software technology * Ability to supervise and manage people * Good written and oral communications skills * Ability to interact and manage vendors ## Description * Recruit, hire, and retain cloud and systems engineering talent in a competitive market. Set individual goals, conduct performance reviews, address underperformance directly, and build development paths that move engineers into senior and lead roles. * Allocate staff across concurrent projects and operational demand; maintain capacity to absorb unplanned work without missing committed dates. Build bench strength and succession coverage for critical systems so that no platform depends on a single person. * Own the multi-year roadmap to move production workloads into AWS and Azure, sequenced so that business risk and change fatigue stay manageable. Drive decommissioning as a first-class deliverable, not an afterthought: retire servers, storage, network gear, licenses, colocation space, and maintenance contracts once workloads have moved, and capture the savings. * Report migration progress and realized cost reduction to executive leadership on a regular cadence, including what has actually been turned off. Ensure the environment is secure, resilient, and recoverable: patching currency, access control, backup and disaster recovery testing, and documented change management. * Govern cloud spend from day one - tagging, forecasting, right-sizing, reserved and savings-plan commitments - so that migrated workloads do not simply relocate the cost. Evaluate and introduce technologies that measurably improve reliability, speed of delivery, or cost; retire those that no longer earn their place * Maintain agreed availability and performance targets for business applications; own incident response, root cause analysis, and the remediation that follows. Provide infrastructure consultation and support to Application Development, including environment provisioning, performance tuning, and deployment automation. Ensure service requests and incidents are tracked accurately and that status and backlog are visible to business stakeholders. * Participate in departmental and corporate strategic and tactical planning; translate business objectives into infrastructure capacity and investment plans. Maintain a technical vision aligned to the business plan and communicate it credibly to executive leadership, users, and agents. Coordinate with Information Security, Application Development, and Data teams so that infrastructure decisions support enterprise architecture rather than diverge from it.
