Senior engineers here are expected to make and defend architectural decisions, raise the quality bar through code review, and communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders. Core Responsibilities * Design and deliver well-tested, maintainable features across backend services and web applications * Lead technical design for significant initiatives: break ambiguous requirements into sound architecture, document decisions, and drive them to completion * Write production code with a focus toward performance, security, and operational reliability * Conduct thorough code reviews focused on correctness, maintainability, and knowledge transfer * Improve delivery systems: CI/CD pipelines, observability, incident response, and deployment safety * Diagnose and resolve complex production issues; participate in an on-call rotation for systems you own * Mentor mid-level engineers through pairing, design feedback, and written technical communication * Collaborate directly with product and business stakeholders to scope work and surface constraints early * Evaluate and introduce new tools and technologies with justified, pragmatic recommendations
