## Description

The Data Center Operations Technician will be a team-oriented individual responsible for the installation and de-installation of network devices, monitoring the Z10 mainframe environment and peripherals, verifying connectivity across all devices, and troubleshooting reconnection issues.

The individual will also be responsible for recording and tracking assets assigned to users.

General Tasks & Responsibilities

Network & Infrastructure Support

 * Installation of network devices and cable management systems.
 * Verify connectivity of all network devices and troubleshoot reconnection issues.
 * Provide technical support to the network owner/user community.
 * Install, rack, and maintain servers.

Hardware Installation & Maintenance

 * Add and upgrade hardware components, including:
 * Memory
 * Hard Drives (H/D)
 * Network Interface Cards (NICs)
 * CPUs
 * Install KVMs and In-Rack PDUs.
 * Monitor and maintain all servers within the Data Center.

Mainframe Operations

 * Familiarization with a large-scale IBM Z10 mainframe environment.
 * Monitor system interfaces and communication utilities and take appropriate action.
 * Work with:
 * IPL
 * TSO
 * MVS
 * JES2
 * CA7

Peripheral & System Support

 * Support and maintain:
 * IBM 4000
 * IBM 6500
 * Canon VS 4400

Service Management

 * Maintain and update accurate documentation of Service Desk trouble tickets.
 * Utilize the ServiceNow Ticketing System.

Asset & Inventory Management

 * Asset Management.
 * Inventory tracking and control.
 * Record assets assigned to users.

Backup & Storage Operations

 * Perform daily and monthly tape backups for offsite storage.
