## About the Role

## Description

Join a newly formed engineering team responsible for advancing Event Horizon, Walmart's enterprise messaging platform that powers critical promotions and customer engagement capabilities. Event Horizon is already deployed and supporting production workloads across the business, including Sam's Club, and is entering its next phase of growth with significant feature enhancements, scalability improvements, and platform modernization efforts.
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in large-scale distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and high-throughput backend services. You will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling messaging infrastructure that supports millions of customer interactions across Walmart's digital ecosystem.
Responsibilities

 * Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Golang and Java
 * Build and enhance core components of the Event Horizon messaging platform
 * Develop highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems that process large volumes of events and messages
 * Partner with Product Managers, Architects, and Engineering teams to deliver new platform capabilities
 * Drive improvements in platform performance, reliability, observability, and scalability
 * Implement event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing solutions
 * Build APIs, microservices, and messaging integrations that support promotional experiences across multiple channels
 * Participate in architecture discussions and influence long-term technical strategy
 * Troubleshoot production issues and drive root cause analysis for complex distributed systems
 * Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and operational excellence initiatives
