## About the Role

Software Development, Software Engineering, Desktop PC, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Artificial Intelligence (AI) Agents, Customer Relations, Software Engineering, Software Development, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Technical Leadership, We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to lead the design and delivery of major parts of the Quick platform. You will own the architecture of large, customer-facing features end to end, from the experience users touch to the distributed services and cloud infrastructure behind them, and you will raise the engineering bar for the team around you. Experience with generative AI is a plus, but strong system design skills, sound technical judgment, and a track record of leading complex projects matter most.

## Description

* Build, not maintain: Quick is in customers" hands, but many of the hardest problems in agentic AI are still being solved, and you will help define how they are solved.
 * Technical leadership: You will set technical direction for your area, drive designs through review, and mentor engineers across the team.
 * Enterprise scale with startup speed: We ship frequently to customers with high expectations for availability, performance, and security.
 * High visibility: You will work closely with senior engineers, applied scientists, and product leaders on initiatives that are core to Amazon Quick.

Key job responsibilities

 * Lead the design and architecture of large, customer-facing features for Amazon Quick, from the user experience to the distributed services and cloud infrastructure behind them.
 * Decide what to build with product managers and senior leaders, and turn ambiguous problems into clear technical plans and milestones.
 * Design highly available, scalable, and secure distributed systems on AWS, and make sound trade-offs between speed, cost, and quality.
 * Drive engineering best practices across the team, including design reviews, code reviews, testing, operational excellence, and documentation.
 * Own the operational health of your systems, and lead deep dives into the hardest production issues.
 * Use generative AI tools in your daily work, and help improve the quality and reliability of AI-powered features.
 * Mentor engineers and help grow the next generation of technical leaders on the team.

You will work with a variety of languages and technologies, such as Python, TypeScript, and Java, on AWS.
