## About the Role

* Associate degree, technical diploma, military technical training, or bachelor's degree in engineering technology, electronics, mechatronics, robotics, mechanical technology, or a related field.
 * Experience with semiconductor inspection, metrology, lithography, advanced packaging, imaging, automation, cleanroom operations, configuration control, and formal issue tracking is preferred.
 * Certifications in electrical safety, robotics, lean manufacturing, vacuum systems, or field service practices are beneficial.

Education Requirements

 * Minimum education: associate degree, technical diploma, military technical training, or equivalent technical experience.
 * Preferred education: associate or bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline.
 * Equivalent experience may substitute for formal education where the candidate demonstrates advanced hands-on troubleshooting capability.

Onto Innovation strives to optimize customers' critical path of progress by making them smarter, faster and more efficient., Onto Innovation is seeking a Systems Engineer 1 to support the installation, integration, troubleshooting, and field readiness of advanced semiconductor inspection and metrology systems within the Panel and Patterning Engineering organization. This second position expands field coverage and redundancy for concurrent customer programs, enabling timely support across multiple strategic customer sites. The role is primarily on-site in Wilmington, Massachusetts, with travel up to 60%., * Provide hands-on support for system installation, qualification, calibration, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, upgrades, and customer escalations.

 * Diagnose complex electro-mechanical, optical, automation, software, and subsystem-level issues and communicate findings clearly to engineering and service teams.
 * Support parallel customer engagements by coordinating with field service, technical product support, operations, manufacturing, product management, supply chain, and strategic customers.
 * Execute test procedures, capture data, verify corrective actions, and contribute to service documentation and training materials.
 * Maintain safe work practices in lab, manufacturing, cleanroom, and customer environments while helping improve uptime, response time, and customer confidence.
