## About the Role

+ A bachelor's degree or equivalent.
 + 1 to 3 years of work experience in data engineering or BI, during which you have built data pipelines or data models that are currently in production
 + Solid foundational knowledge of SQL and an understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data modeling
 + Demonstrable use of AI in your daily work or studies, and a curiosity about new AI applications
 + Familiarity with Python and an interest in Agile/DevOps methodologies
 + A willingness to learn: you ask questions, seek feedback, and strive to improve every day
 + Preferred: experience with Snowflake, Matillion, Qlik, SaaS, or the insurance industry.

## Description

Virtually every Dutch person has an insurance policy powered by ANVA. As the market leader in insurance software, our platform supports more than 21 million policies, 60% of the premium volume in the market, and more than 10,000 daily users. With eight development teams, we're building a brand-new SaaS platform and migrating a large customer base, so every release has an immediate impact. This innovative platform is set to make a difference in the world of insurance and financial services, and we're looking for a Junior/Mid-Level Data Engineer who wants to grow alongside our team.

AI is central to this role and to the way we work at ANVA. As an AI-first organization, we aim to lead the way in the use of AI within our market. Right from the start of your career, AI will be a natural part of how you work: you'll use it to learn faster, write code, test, and document, and you'll maintain a critical eye on its results. You're expected to make AI an integral part of your daily workflow and to demonstrate this during the application process.
As a Data Engineer, you'll work on the ANVA DataPlatform: the beating heart of our data-driven organization. This platform supports both our existing solutions (ANVA 4/5) and our new, Snowflake-native platform, ANVA 6. Together with a multidisciplinary team and experienced colleagues, you'll build robust data pipelines within Snowflake. You'll receive guidance and the opportunity to grow step by step in terms of responsibility and complexity.

 + Build and improve ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake, Snowpark Python (for ANVA 6), and Matillion (for ANVA 4/5), in collaboration with senior colleagues
 + Maintain and improve data processes within the platform
 + Help build the data foundation for ANVA 6 so that customer data can be used for reports, dashboards, and other applications
 + Contributions to Business Insights: reports and Qlik dashboards for both ANVA 4/5 and ANVA 6
 + Use AI tools to speed up and improve your work, and actively share your findings with the team
 + Conduct your own research: try out new techniques and AI applications, build prototypes, and demonstrate what works (and what doesn't)
 + Learning to translate technical problems into clear, practical solutions
 + Collaborating with and learning from data engineers, analysts, and DevOps specialists
 + Contribute to DevOps tasks such as monitoring, automation, and performance optimization
