This role will serve as Orrick Labs' primary pro-code development resource, building applications, integrations, APIs, automation services, data pipelines, and user-facing solutions that extend and complement the team's low-code capabilities. The role requires strong software engineering skills and the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions. It will also require combining pro-code development, Microsoft platform agentic AI capabilities, and low-code tools into practical, secure, and maintainable solutions. The Legal Solutions Architect will partner closely with attorneys, business professionals, Innovation, IT, and external vendors to develop production-ready solutions that solve complex operational challenges and accelerate the firm's strategic objectives. Responsibilities: * Determine when a business problem is best solved through custom software development, low-code technologies, AI agents, or a hybrid approach, and design solutions accordingly. * Build and deploy Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that securely expose firm tools and data as needed to the firm's internal AI agents. * Design, develop, and deploy custom software applications that support legal workflows. * Architect and build APIs, integration services, and middleware that connect firm systems, third-party applications, and cloud platforms. * Develop secure, scalable backend services using modern programming languages and cloud-native development practices. * Design and implement automation solutions using a combination of pro-code and low-code technologies. * Design and maintain integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth2, JSON schemas, and cross-platform authentication patterns. * Create reusable software components, libraries, and technical frameworks to accelerate future development efforts. * Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, evaluate technical approaches, and deliver solutions aligned with firm priorities. * Design application architecture, deployment strategies, and environment management processes from development through production. * Develop and maintain technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and implementation plans. * Establish testing, monitoring, debugging, and support practices for custom solutions. * Evaluate emerging technologies, development frameworks, and AI platforms to determine appropriate business applications. * Refactor local automation scripts into secure, self-service cloud endpoints for consumption by agents and low-code automation tools, such as Power Automate * Collaborate with IT, Information Security, and Governance teams to ensure solutions adhere to firm standards and requirements. * Support AI initiatives where custom engineering, integrations, APIs, and infrastructure are required to move solutions into production. * Evaluate, prototype, integrate, and deploy agents, copilots, and AI-enabled workflow solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, and related Microsoft technologies. * Stay apprised of best practices related to designing, testing, deploying, governing, and monitoring AI agents and copilots.
