 * The position is remote; the candidate must be able to work independently, manage time effectively, and come on-site as needed.
 * Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required., * 15 years of experience with Java Core, Java EE (JEE), the Java Persistence API (JPA), and the Java Persistence Query Language (JPQL).
 * 5 years of experience with Java Server Faces (JSF) / PrimeFaces.
 * 10 years of experience with PostgreSQL, including SQL and plpgsql.
 * 5 years of experience understanding development processes in Cloud / Amazon Web Services (AWS).
 * 5 years of experience with Java RESTful Web Services.
 * WCAG compatibility knowledge and application.
 * Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

 * Maven.

## Description

* The client is seeking an experienced full-time Senior Java Application Developer to develop Java applications and web services.
 * The developer will work with a team of application developers, engineers, and subject matter experts on the creation of new applications and the replacement of legacy applications that serve both the public and internal staff., * Design, develop, and maintain Java applications and web services for DHHS that serve both the public and internal staff.
 * Create new applications and support the replacement of legacy applications, using Java web frameworks (preference for EJB and JSF).
 * Update existing Java web applications to maintain current functionality and provide new enhancements per user requirements.
 * Build web APIs that use PostgreSQL to store and query data.
 * Implement authentication for external users and systems using standards such as Auth2 or OpenAM.
 * Work toward continuous integration/delivery pipelines in Amazon Web Services.
 * Ensure agency data security standards are met and approved data encryption techniques are used.
 * Analyze user requirements to define business objectives, implement them in an application, and envision system features and functionality.
 * Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting them for architectural review.
 * Collaborate with application developers, engineers, and subject matter experts, and work independently and remotely while managing time effectively.
