## About the Role

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with good judgement and decision-making ability, able to put theory in practice to find innovative ways of resolve problems.
 * Strong C#/.NET development skills spanning both current and legacy platforms: ASP.NET Core (Razor Pages and MVC) on .NET 8 and .NET 10, and legacy ASP.NET MVC 5, Web API 2, WebForms and WinForms on .NET Framework 4.8.
 * Ability to read, maintain and help modernise legacy Visual Basic 6 and Classic ASP (VBScript) applications; experience migrating VB6/COM systems to .NET is a strong advantage.
 * Solid SQL Server experience: stored-procedure-based data access via ADO.NET/Dapper and Entity Framework Core, and comfort working without an ORM where required.
 * Experience with, or a genuine willingness to learn, containerised deployments (Docker on Linux) and AWS cloud services such as ECS Fargate, Lambda, S3, Systems Manager/Secrets Manager and CloudWatch; exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) is a plus.
 * Experience writing automated tests (xUnit/NUnit, Moq) and building integration and regression ("golden file") test suites for business-critical systems.
 * Understanding of XML/SOAP/REST-based B2B integrations and partner/insurer messaging protocols.
 * Knowledge of using Git/GitLab for source control, and familiarity with GitLab CI/CD pipelines

Preferred Qualifications:

 * Language Skills: Knowledge of Spanish and/or German would be an advantage, but is not essential.
 * ITIL Knowledge: Familiarity with ITIL principles, ideally at least at ITIL Foundation level.
 * ISO 27001: Basic knowledge and understanding of ISO 27001 standards and information security practices.
 * TDD: Knowledge or experience of Test-Driven Development (TDD)., Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the country where employment is offered. JD Power does not provide employment sponsorship for this position.

## Description

The Software Engineer is responsible for investigating, analysing, and reverse engineering existing software systems, leveraging AI-powered tools and techniques to accelerate understanding, improve code analysis, and enhance documentation. The role contributes to the full software development lifecycle, including the design, development, testing, support, maintenance, and optimisation of internal applications and databases, while identifying opportunities to use AI to improve efficiency, quality, and innovation across software solutions.

In this role, you will:

 * To maintain and develop of all Production applications and all Data Import, Data Export and Editorial tools used by the Editorial, Production and Valuations teams
 * To provide 3rd level support for all Production applications, tools and data processes.
 * Working with the New Development Manager to develop new applications, tools etc...
 * Understand and implement security measures, minimum privilege principles and protect data from unwarranted use.
 * To ensure that all development is carried out according to industry best-practice standards
 * To ensure that full documentation is produced for all software
 * Architecting solutions that meet both our technical aspirations and the strategic requirements of our business
