Desirable Skills * Experience across Microsoft 365 security technologies, including Microsoft Defender, Entra ID and Microsoft Sentinel. * Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management, Communication Compliance or Data Security Posture Management (DSPM). * Experience with Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Microsoft Teams. * Knowledge of Microsoft Purview Audit, Activity Explorer and compliance reporting. * Experience implementing automation using PowerShell or Microsoft Graph. * Familiarity with ITIL, ITSM, ServiceNow or similar service management frameworks. * Relevant Microsoft security, compliance or information protection certifications. * Experience working within large, regulated enterprise environments. ## Description The platform has recently been implemented, and the focus is now on ongoing optimisation, operational maturity, governance and business adoption, ensuring Microsoft Purview delivers measurable value across the organisation. This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong experience across Microsoft Purview's security, compliance and information protection capabilities, alongside the ability to engage effectively with Security, Compliance, Data Protection and wider business stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing existing configurations, refining policies, improving monitoring and reporting, and establishing sustainable Business-as-Usual (BAU) processes., * Take technical ownership of the existing Microsoft Purview environment, ensuring ongoing stability, effectiveness and continuous improvement. * Administer, maintain and optimise Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, sensitivity labelling, retention and eDiscovery capabilities. * Review and fine-tune existing DLP policies to improve detection accuracy, reduce false positives and minimise unnecessary business disruption. * Analyse user activity, security alerts and compliance reporting to identify opportunities for policy improvements. * Troubleshoot Purview configuration issues and implement enhancements aligned with evolving business and regulatory requirements. Operational Maturity & BAU Support * Support the transition from project implementation into a mature, sustainable BAU operating model. * Develop and maintain operational runbooks, standard operating procedures, technical documentation and support frameworks. * Establish processes for incident management, escalation, change control, policy reviews and ongoing platform maintenance. * Work with internal support and security teams to ensure effective monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of operational issues. * Define and monitor operational metrics, reporting dashboards and service improvement activities. Security, Compliance & Data Governance * Collaborate closely with Security, Compliance, Data Protection and Information Governance teams to align Purview controls with organisational policies. * Maintain and enhance sensitivity labels, data classification and information protection controls. * Support retention policies, data lifecycle management, eDiscovery and compliance investigations. * Identify potential data security risks and recommend appropriate technical and procedural improvements. * Ensure controls remain aligned with relevant data protection and regulatory obligations, including GDPR. Stakeholder Engagement & Business Adoption * Act as the Microsoft Purview subject matter expert, providing technical guidance to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. * Work with business teams to understand how existing Purview controls impact day-to-day operations. * Lead user adoption initiatives, awareness sessions, workshops and training programmes. * Develop user guidance and communications to support appropriate information handling and compliance. * Gather stakeholder feedback and use real-world activity to continuously refine policies and improve the user experience.
