## About the Role

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
 * Experience with materialographic sample preparation and microscopy required.
 * Experience with hardness testing and/or image analysis software preferred.
 * Familiarity with ISO and ASTM standards, including ISO 17025, ASTM E10, E18, and E92/E384.
 * Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other technical software applications.
 * Strong presentation and product demonstration skills, both in person and virtually.
 * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 * Structured, analytical, and collaborative problem-solving approach.
 * Clean driving record and ability to travel domestically and internationally, including overnight travel.

## Description

The Application Engineer serves as a key technical expert supporting internal teams and external customers across the materials testing product line. This role partners with Sales, Marketing, and customers to provide hands-on technical support, product demonstrations, application development, and training. The ideal candidate combines strong materialographic expertise with presentation skills, a structured problem-solving approach, and a passion for educating customers.
Application Engineer Responsibilities:

 * Provide technical and application support for materials testing equipment to internal and external customers.
 * Prepare and evaluate customer samples and develop preparation procedures and best practices.
 * Conduct product demonstrations in-house, on-site at customer facilities, at trade shows, and via virtual platforms such as WebEx.
 * Deliver technical training programs for customers and internal teams.
 * Develop and implement educational training materials and courses.
 * Support Sales in technical discussions and opportunity conversion.
 * Present technical content through webinars, conferences, workshops, and industry events.
 * Assist customers in troubleshooting and resolving quality issues.
 * Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean activities such as 5S.
