Orion180 is seeking a Semantic Model Manager to own the suite of semantic models that drive analytics across underwriting, claims, finance, sales, and executive reporting. You will be the steward of our single source of truth, ensuring that the right data is available in the right dimensions to power every aspect of Orion180's business. At Orion180, we expect our analytics team to go beyond maintenance and serve as architectural partners to the business. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong intellectual curiosity and ownership by proactively understanding not just how a model performs today, but why it is structured as it is and how it must evolve to meet tomorrow's analytical demands. This role requires a self-starter who is comfortable operating with ambiguity, asks thoughtful and targeted questions, and translates loosely defined business needs into durable, well-governed data structures. Success in this role depends on the ability to balance performance, stability, and flexibility while working hand-in-hand with Analysts and Data Scientists. We are looking for someone who not only maintains models, but shapes how the entire organization consumes and trusts its data. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Semantic Model Ownership & Architecture * Own the design, structure, and full lifecycle of the semantic models that power Orion180's analytics across underwriting, claims, finance, sales, and executive reporting. * Architect dimensional models (facts, dimensions, hierarchies, and relationships) that deliver the right data in the right grain for every business domain. * Drive the evolution of the model portfolio, including decomposition into certified core and satellite models to balance reuse, performance, and domain ownership. Performance, Stability & Governance * Monitor, diagnose, and optimize model performance, resolving problematic relationships, calculation bottlenecks, and refresh stability issues before they reach the business. * Establish and enforce governance standards (naming conventions, certified datasets, documentation, and data lineage) to maintain a trusted single source of truth. * Define and steward the metric and measure library, ensuring consistent, validated business logic across every reporting surface. Enablement & Collaboration * Partner hand-in-hand with Analysts and Data Scientists to ensure the data they need is modeled, accessible, and dimensioned to power their analyses and machine learning workflows. * Translate evolving business questions into model enhancements, proactively anticipating the dimensions and measures the business will need next. * Document model architecture and design decisions, and mentor analysts on best practices for consuming the semantic layer., While performing general duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, comprehending, and reading; being able to lift light objects (<25 lbs); and using standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist, or squat down to open/close cabinets and reach for files or other standard office-type objects. ## Related Videos - [Beyond Dashboards: Fixing Text-to-SQL with Semantic RAG](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2036-beyond-dashboards-fixing-text-to-sql-with-semantic-rag) - [Enjoying SQL data pipelines with dbt](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/823-enjoying-sql-data-pipelines-with-dbt) - [How Cisco embraced a DevOps culture within its network engineering team](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/99-how-cisco-embraced-a-devops-culture-within-its-network-engineering-team) - [Cutting LLM Costs Without Cutting Quality: How to Beat Proprietary LLMs with Fine-Tuned Open Source](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100151-cutting-llm-costs-without-cutting-quality-how-to-beat-proprietary-llms-with-fine-tuned-open-source) - [Beyond SQL Generation: How to Teach Agents What Your Database Actually Means](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100127-beyond-sql-generation-how-to-teach-agents-what-your-database-actually-means) - [From Messy Queries to Scalable Systems - How Data Engineering actually works](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100203-from-messy-queries-to-scalable-systems-how-data-engineering-actually-works) ## Related Articles - [Graph and AI Trends 2026: Why Is AI Running but Not Yet Delivering?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/680-graph-and-ai-trends-2026-why-is-ai-running-but-not-yet-delivering) - [Coffee with Developers - Maria Apazoglou - Making AI understandable for all in production](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/475-coffee-with-developers-maria-apazoglou-making-ai-understandable-for-all-in-production) - [Making Data Warehouses Fast: A Developer’s Story](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/107-making-data-warehouses-fast-a-developer-s-story) - [What Are The Top Skills Required For Azure Developers?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/77-what-are-the-top-skills-required-for-azure-developers) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [Everything a Developer Needs to Know About MCP with Neo4j](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/604-everything-a-developer-needs-to-know-about-mcp-with-neo4j)
