This role is responsible for the provisioning, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of systems, networks, and services across multiple GLI office locations. The successful candidate will combine deep technical capability with strong ownership, disciplined prioritisation, and the ability to consistently deliver to a high standard., * Strong expertise in Cisco networking (routing, switching, troubleshooting). * Proven capability managing VMware environments at scale. * Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting capability across multiple technical domains. * Ability to work independently with limited supervision and deliver consistent results. * Experience in ITIL practices, particularly Problem Management and service improvement. Operational Expectations (What Good Looks Like) * Consistently delivers as a reliable, high-performing individual contributor. * Effectively prioritises own workload while supporting team members where appropriate. * Demonstrates strong ownership and accountability for outcomes. * Applies structured troubleshooting and ITIL-aligned processes. * Maintains a strong balance between supporting others and delivering personal responsibilities., * Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience * 5+ years in enterprise IT infrastructure environments * Strong hands-on experience with: * Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP) * Backup and disaster recovery systems * Virtualisation platforms (VMware) * Strong knowledge of network topology and remote access technologies. * Strong communication skills, with the ability to operate across both technical and business audiences. * Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to quality and deadlines. ## Description * Own and manage assigned infrastructure, systems, and applications, ensuring reliability, performance, and security. * Administer and optimise Cisco networking environments (routing, switching, LAN/WAN performance). * Manage and support VMware virtualisation platforms, including performance tuning and troubleshooting. * Maintain core infrastructure services (Windows Server, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, enterprise email systems). * Monitor system health (logs, alerts, performance metrics) and proactively resolve issues before impact. * Support and operate backup and disaster recovery processes, ensuring data integrity and availability. * Apply system updates, patches, and configuration changes in line with security and operational standards. * Lead and contribute to incident and problem management, including root cause analysis and preventative actions. * Maintain high-quality technical documentation, including system configurations and procedures. * Provide escalation support and resolve complex technical issues across multiple domains. * Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver effective technical solutions. * Support global operations, including inter-site connectivity and remote troubleshooting., This is a hands-on Senior Systems Engineer role for a true IT generalist, someone who can operate autonomously across technologies, take ownership, and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes in a demanding, business-critical environment.
